Children and future fashion industry leaders will take on the 2016 Adelaide Fashion Festival presented by Mercedes-Benz Adelaide putting enthusiasm and innovation on the runway.
On Saturday 22 October the Adelaide Fashion Festival (AFF) will recognise Adelaide’s emerging talent through a kid’s runway show and a fashion showcase produced entirely by TAFE SA students.
This is in addition to the South Oz Designer Markets that have been extended to two days, and will run in Victoria Square alongside the AFF Runway from 11am-10pm on Friday 21 October and 10am-5pm on Saturday 22 October.
AFF Kids Runway presented by Mostly Kids Model Agency and Academy will give toddlers to teens the chance to walk on an international standard runway.
“It’s great to see that fashion for little people is as important as fashion for bigger people,” Mostly Kids principal Liz Philippou said.
“These children know their style… they get confidence from picking out their own outfits.”
The models will showcase looks by Rundle Mall’s top children’s wear brands and Adelaide’s own “little” designers who will also be showing at the South Oz Designer Markets.
“We’re extremely excited – our talent and families are too,” Ms Philippou said.
“It takes a lot of confidence to get in front of an audience any time at any age, most of all for younger children.
“Parents often call us to say the children’s school teachers have noticed an improvement, both in their school work and in their confidence.”
Fashion’s Future: A TAFE SA student showcase will be an event presented entirely by students from a variety of disciplines; from fashion and set design to event production and more.
The runway show will also include looks from the 11 finalists of the Premier’s Design Award. The winner, to be named in October, will receive a 12-month industry mentoring program facilitated by the Adelaide Fashion Festival.
